Best work gloves.

By far the best gloves I’ve owned. I am a Moulder Operator and get to work EARLY (meaning it’s cold). When I arrive I need perform tasks that require my hands to have “feel” such as using digital calipers to ensure the product I am milling is within tolerance and perform minor maint.

THESE GLOVES WORK!!

I can use a 3mm allen just as easy a 19mm wrench. Furthermore, when I handle wood, the nitrile aids in gripping the surface.

I also use these when I need to work on my LandCruiser, cut or move firewood, clean up the garage, take out the trash…I look for a reason to put them on. I may go put them on to see if I can still type.

Excellent All-round Workshop Glove

I’ve used mine for 2+ years. Wish I had discovered them sooner.

I never knew how much I’d like ending the day without GASC hands (Grime, Abrasion, Splinters, Cuts).

Not the best for yard work, very rough work, or paint/glue work, but excellent for most workshop and project work.

A good gift for the right person, who hasn’t discovered these.

PROs:

* Rubbery grip – Big help with table saw feed
* Good-enough hand protection
* Thin enough – pretty good dexterity
* Heavy enough for most workshop tasks
* Breathe well – pleasant to wear

Excellent Product

This was exactly what I needed to replace a burnt out headlight socket on my 97 Subaru Legacy. The quality of the product is excellent and the materials used to manufacture this product were also excellent. Would definately buy Dorman headlight sockets again if needed. Also the price on Amazon could not be beat.

Works like a charm on a ’99 Subaru Impreza

I have been having intermittent problems with the headlights on my ’99 Subaru Impreza. For a while, I thought it was the cheap 9003 bulbs that I have been buying. The problem turned out to be the original headlight socket. The plastic housing for the socket was brittle and appeared burned out.

Purchase these Dorman sockets and swapped out the old ones. Work just fine. I noted the the wiring colors on these sockets are different from the wiring colors my vehicle. I used a VOM to make sure that the wiring is connected correctly.

I highly recommend this product. BTW, one pack comes with 2 sockets.

Remarkable. My favorite Chaplin film

Though some here and in other circles have remarked that they believe “City Lights” is overrated and over-sentimental, I still believe that one cannot deny how moving and beautiful the film becomes as it draws toward its conclusion. “City Lights” remains my favorite Chaplin movie with “Modern Times” coming in at a close second. Chaplin plays his classic Tramp character who falls for a blind flower girl and wants to help her earn money for an operation to cure blindness. The boxing scene in which the scrawny Chaplin takes on a seasoned prize fighter is the major comic highlight of the film featuring gags that have been imitated and recycled by countless other comedies. The finale is nothing short of touching, beautiful, and brilliant and shows perfectly the full emotion that can be conveyed in a silent picture. This is one of the few films that still, time and time again, can bring tears to my eyes. “City Lights” is a masterpiece.

Incredible Ending — great score

a must for any movie collection. the dvd version is clean and provides two audio options, the original mono and a rich version re-recorded in stereo in 1989 for Chaplin’s centennial. the stereo score adds quite a bit to the mood of the film.

of interest as well, is a brief collection of annotation/changes by Chaplin to the original concept of the film.

the movie itself is a great tribute to Chaplin’s genius. there is the wonderful story line with great humorous moments like the ‘audio’ joke in the beginning, the whirlwind dance scene, the boxing match, then it ends… well, the end is acted simply but precisely and is compelling in its ambiguity. absolutely one of the greatest cinematic ending of all time.

The Little Tramp’s apotheosis.

A few years after the advent of “talkies”, Charlie Chaplin, with his 1931 film *City Lights*, provided the much-needed reminder that cinema remained (remains) a VISUAL medium. Two people yapping at each other while sitting on a divan was simply not going to cut the mustard, a fact that a visionary like Chaplin saw from the beginning. Right at the outset he makes fun of the incessant jabber that had sprung up in the movies after the discovery of sound synchronization. In a public square, a politico squawks incoherently while dedicating a new statue. He sounds, in fact, rather like the teacher on the Peanuts Gang cartoons: “bwah bwah bwah”. Later in the scene, Chaplin’s Little Tramp squawks too . . . and that’s the only concession to “talking” in *City Lights*. After that, it’s back to basics, meaning: gags, drunken gags, slapstick gags in a boxing ring, and of course the vaunted Chaplinesque sentimentality, laid on thick here via a poor blind girl who sells flowers for a living. It can be argued that the gags and their set-ups might not be quite as inspired (or funny) as the ones in his earlier films. Chaplin was in his early forties here, and it shows: he’s less physically agile; he looks a bit tired, occasionally (though not during that famous boxing scene). Even so, there’s an almost defiant tinge to the stunts and the humor, an “I’m still here!” attitude that seems to say that even if the repertoire is getting tired, no one can do it better than the film’s director and star. For me, what pushes the movie from 4 Stars to 5 Stars is the devastating and ambiguous last sequence, which will hit you in the solar plexus so hard that tears will be forced from your eyes. Somehow the astonishing climax rises above the typically sentimental set-up and attains the pinnacle of artistic sublimity. James Agee opined that the finale constituted the “highest moment in the history of the movies”. He may be right.

San Diego Chargers Sunglasses

Being a fan of the San Diego Chargers, I was excited to run across this product on this websites.

I ordered the product, and it got to my home quicker than the estimated time. This pleases, as shipping can be expensive.

I’ve worn these glasses many, many times already. They are a good shade, (not too light, not too dark) and more than likely will not break easily.

I am very pleased with this product, and recommend it to Chargers fan alike.

If you are a football fan, these glasses are great. They really block out the rays, and make it very easy to see in bright sunlight. Tehy are also very cool since they have the logo on the side of your favorite team. I’ve always wanted a pair of sunglasses from the NFL, but most are just too expensive, but this is also a great price. Got mine for under $10. Amazon rocks, and so do these glasses!!

A trip through time

Boulder is an interesting town, and having lived here for 35 years, I’ve seen many changes. Sylvia Pettem has documented Boulder’s transition over the past 50+ years beautifully. The photos are well done, and the way the book is laid out makes it easy for one to do a walking tour in a logical manner. This would be an excellent book for someone contemplating a move to Boulder, or even someone who has visited our town and wants to take home a memory or two.

CHRIS O’DELL WASN’T FAMOUS. SHE WASN’T EVEN ALMOST FAMOUS. BUT SHE WAS THERE.

She was in the studio when the Beatles recorded The White Album, Abbey Road, and Let It Be, and when Paul recorded “Hey Jude,” she sang in the chorus.

She was at Ringo’s kitchen table when George Harrison said, “You know, Ringo, I’m in love with your wife.” And Ringo replied, “Better you than somebody we don’t know.”

She typed the lyrics to George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass. She lived with George and Pattie Boyd at Friar Park, invented a crush on Eric Clapton, and unwittingly got involved in the famous love story among Eric and Pattie.

She’s the subject of Leon Russell’s “Pisces Apple Lady,” a song he wrote to woo her. Other rock legends with whom she was intimate include Ringo, Mick Jagger, and Bob Dylan.

She worked with the Rolling Stones as their personal assistant on their illfamed 1972 tour and did a drug run for Keith Richards.

A rock ‘n’ roll memoir with heart

Given all the rock memoirs that have emerged over the past twenty years or so, it’s hard to pick up another without thinking wearily, “Now what?” After all, Chris O’Dell was not a star herself, but a friend, employee, helper, and lover of a few you might have heard of. It’s easy to be cynical, but I fell in love with this twenty pages in. Guilelessly, like Alice down the rabbit hole, Miss O’Dell stumbled upon a life even she could not have dreamed. Looking back, she paints a living portrait of the Beatles, the Stones, her friend Patti Boyd Harrison Clapton, and many others. At the same time, however, she manages to tell an engaging tale of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll with a loving, caring eye and a warm, forgiving heart. After all, she reminds us, even the highest (literally or figuratively) among them had also stumbled onto that 60s Mount Olympus unprepared for what fame, money, and position could do for–or against–friendship, love, artistry, and happiness. An unusually insightful and loving account of an amazing time.

This delicious page turner will not disappoint!

This book, once picked up, is difficult to put down. I have read almost every book on the Beatles, and there were first hand accounts of stories just hinted in other books. Great insights into the Beatles and the women in their lives, and the goings on at Apple. Interesting accounts of how musicians feel about their peers. There were loads of surprises too.
Miss O’Dell’s voice is instantly likable. her honest and wide-eyed approach is refreshing. She is practically sitting on the couch with you telling you about all her mostly wonderful adventures. I simply did not want the book to end. I hope there are more stories she hasn’t shared yet……Can I pre-order her next one?

Many of us grew up not just listening to the Beatles, but LOVING them…feeling something different…maybe female, no..no…it transcended that, but definitely stronger than admiration…it felt intimate. It felt as if you were family…well, okay, distant family, but still a like a cousin who couldn’t wait to see and hear the updates about each step in their music and lives…waiting for the post cards. Rather than from your mother, however, you got your updates from the radio, t.v., Rolling Stone and Circus and 16 and Tiger Beat…or the drum beats of friends.

Whether you shared that kind of experience or not, this is the book that music fans have been waiting to read since the 60′s. Clearly it is not a repeat of any other biographer or insider’s account. It is a true, fresh view…an extraordinary account by Chris O’Dell, who was there…who can truly say she was family. Bravo, Chris and thank you.

Horrible, horrible, horrible!! Do NOT order from this SHAM company!

I don’t know what kind of sweatshop these guys are running, but I’ve had problems with them since day ONE–I tried to give them ZERO STARS, but I HAD to give them at least one (which is being generous, in my opinion). I ordered my cards well in advance, and they still did not arrive on time. When I called the company to figure out what the issue was, they sent my phone call to somewhere in India–I was put on hold numerous times while they scrambled around trying to figure out what was going on with an order they had sent. When they finally had some information, they GUARANTEED a delivery date–the date passed with NO cards in the mail whatsoever. Apparently, this ‘company’ (and I use that term very loosely) takes 2+ weeks to process and send out FAULTY orders.

When the individual DID receive the card it looked as though it had been used, and did not even WORK. When I explained to ‘GiftCard Mall’ what had happened, and told them that my mother said it looked like the card was in rough condition (the individual at the store the card was purchased for, in fact, confirmed the card HAD been reloaded–she had guessed it was multiple times from the shape the card was in), they implied that she was lying about it! The manager I spoke with on the phone was constantly interrupting me and trying to speak over me while I was trying to explain myself–trying to convince me that the United States Postal Service doesn’t have tracking numbers. I told the manager that I was guaranteed a delivery date when I called previously, at the very least I expect a company to stick by the guarantees THEY offer, but apparently this company does NOT stick by their promises. The records they had of my previous conversation was entirely lacking, and instead of trying to resolve the issue the ‘manager’ (I say this because he was both condescending and unprofessional) then sent me off to get lost in the paperwork of some ‘corporate office.’

I love Amazon, and I love the convenience of online shopping–I would have been a FREQUENT customer of GiftCard Mall, but this business isn’t a business at all. These guys take your order and your HARD-EARNED MONEY, and then throw an old, previously used giftcard in the mail hoping it’s the right store, with the right amount, going to the right location–if not, oh well! It will be your fault…but only because you still chose to order from them after reading this.

From now on, I will be buying my giftcards the old-fashioned way–if it ain’t broke…

The card never was sent, and I never was notified by merchant

I bought this card for my sister in law’s bday. I I received notification that the card had been sent and assumed it had been received. Three weeks after the card was purchased, I received an email from Amazon that I was being refunded my money because the order had been cancelled by the merchant. I never heard ANYTHING from the merchant that there was any sort of problem. The merchant should have been the first to notify me of a problem and it should not have taken three weeks!

It takes forever to get these cards. You’re better off just getting them at grocery stores where they’re easy to find.
