Alison Hood’s rendition of Field’s music is a mixture of new age and classical that _works_! Perfect album for a romantic evening.

oh my god…what a lucky day for me when i read the reviews on this album and decisive to check it out. this young irish pianist plays the music of field in a arranged in a distinguishable and wondrous way by the well known composer and arranger phil coulter…i’m rather sure the classical snobs will have a “field” day with this one but i hope they have the foresight to look deeper into the beauteous playing on this album and comprehend that this is the perfective way to fetch the music of one of irelands best held secrets, john field, to a new audience. i look forward to the next album from alison hood. not only does she look wonderful, but she plays like an angel.

This CD is actually excellent, a freshening innovative interpretation of John Field’s music. Supporting “new age” instruments add mainly to the music but are subtle sufficient not to intrude on the piano pieces and Alison’s magnificent performances. Phil Coulter as producer of the CD is testament to it is quality.
